11 killed and 71 people injured in ferry crash

On october the 15 of 2003 Andrew Barberi's vessel crashed in one of St George Ferry's concrete terminal piers. The accident is known as the worst ferry accident in the almost 100 years of company's history.
Result's of the investigations in 2005 said that the captain's assistent's human error was in the middle of this incident. It seem's that the assistent has taken some unaproved pils and he was not able to conduct properly his duty to the end.
The Andrew Barberi vessel however was rebuilt and he is functioning properly since the 1 of january 2004. Since then no incidentd where reported. To improve safety some extra messures where taken as the Comission of Investigation sugested in 2005. The personal of the vessel is regurarly health controlled, and they are removed from service where health problems occurs.
Unfortunately for 11 lives these mesures came to late, but it may have saved also more in the future.
